    Former Army Military Engineer Officer here--Civil Engineer by education—Construction Engineer by experience. Joining the Army is probably the worst way to gain credibility as an engineer and/ or get experience. Combat engineers blow things up and make way for maneuver commanders, almost zero thought is involved though it is fun.   The course teaches engineer officers to plan, synchronize and understand complex engineer and tactical operations before going on to lead Soldiers in the ce said the Army .
